Picture the Change

Picture the Change was an Erasmus + training course for youth workers who came together to explore the method of participatory photography and learn how to use digital tools of expression for supporting young people facing difficulties.

To enable participants to become confident as facilitators and understand the method fully, Picture the Change provided them with a set of activities that were implemented in the course of five months:

  • Training course on Participatory Photography (Denmark, November 2023) aiming at introducing the method
  • Local Participatory Photography workshops (November 2023 – February 2023) implemented by participants for young people in their communities
  • Sum-up seminar (Armenia, March 2024) focusing on reflecting on the method and planning how to use it further on

In the last stage of the project participants had a chance to reflect on their role as facilitators based on their experiences from the local workshops. In result, they created a tool kit for facilitators which presents the method of participatory photography, exercises that can be used during workshops, and most common challenges along with solutions that were developed based on participants experiences of using photography with youth.

The project was done in partnership with altera lab – a youth center in Aparan, Armenia.
